From high school to med school
Successful med school candidates share one thing in common: they start early. They choose strong premed programs, focus on the right courses, and layer in leadership, research, and clinical work - experiences that admissions committees value most. We help students build that advantage now, and carry it forward through MCAT preparation, compelling applications, and confident interviews.
Here are answers to the most common questions we get from students and parents 👇
Our team is led by physicians who have served on admissions committees at top 20 medical schools across the US. Together, they have designed and iterated our program around what they know committees value most. Students will work directly with these physicians, as well as a comprehensive team of residents and medical students. Each brings unique strengths: physicians provide high-level strategy, residents offer practical insights from recent experience, and medical students understand exactly what it takes to succeed in today's environment.
This approach mirrors how admissions files are actually reviewed by medical schools: not only by faculty, but also by residents and students on the committee. By working with our team across every level of training, applicants get the most realistic preparation possible — and the best perspective on how their applications will actually be evaluated.
Medical schools evaluate applicants across both academic and non-academic domains. Strong GPA and MCAT scores show that a student can handle the rigor of medical training, but grades alone aren’t enough. Committees also want proof of clinical exerience, as well as qualities like leadership, professionalism, honesty, integrity, and humility — the traits that define a future physician. And with overall acceptance rates of 10% or less, excelling across these domains isn’t optional — it’s what separates future doctors from those who don’t make the cut.
Our program gives students the strategy and support they need to rise above the competition. We guide students through the academic choices and study habits that lead to a strong GPA, alongside a comprehensive MCAT prep program to ensure our students score in the 90th percentile (minimum). Beyond academics, we guide students in building experiences — in clinical, leadership, advocacy, and research — that demonstrate the personal qualities and skills that admissions committees value most. The result is a balanced profile that stands out not only on paper, but in interviews and beyond.
And here’s the reality: it’s not enough to simply have the right grades, experiences, and skills. If a student can’t communicate those effectively through their written applications and interviews, admissions committees won’t see their full potential. That’s why so much of our program is devoted to helping students articulate their story clearly, confidently, and persuasively.
Parents can have full access to everything — from student materials to our coaching team — but the level of involvement is completely optional. For families who want to stay closely involved, we’re happy to provide updates and include parents at every step. For students who prefer to work more independently, we can handle everything directly with them while keeping parents reassured that progress is on track. Ultimately, the level of parents' involvement is flexible and guided by the student and their family.
For students who get started with us in high school and follow our guidance along the way, acceptance rates are as high as 96%. Success rates decline the later students start with us, as there is more catch-up work to do and fewer opportunities for intervention. Starting early gives us the time to shape every part of a student’s profile — academics, activities, and skills — so when it’s time to apply, they stand out as one of the strongest candidates in the pool.
Most admissions consulting companies operate like big corporations. They spend heavily on marketing, funnel families into generic programs, and treat students like numbers in a pipeline. At Scholr, we’ve built something completely different.
Our team is made up entirely of physicians, residents, and medical students — no career consultants, no “generalists.” Everyone who coaches here has been through the medical school admissions process themselves and knows what committees value most. We’re also highly selective: each year we receive hundreds of applications from prospective coaches, but only the top 5% are accepted and trained to join our team.
Furthermore, we focus exclusively on medical school admissions. While other firms spread themselves thin across law, dental, business, and more, we believe medicine is a unique pursuit and deserves a program built exclusively for it. That’s why everything we do is designed to prepare students for one outcome: acceptance into medical school.
Finally, we intentionally cap the number of students we work with each year to 300. Limiting enrollment allows us to give every student the personalized attention they deserve and ensures that quality never suffers. For us, success isn’t about volume — it’s about helping each student achieve their dreams as a doctor.
This is a rare scenario for students who start with us early enough and follow our guidance. That being said, if you’re not accepted on your first try, we will continue working with you at no additional cost until you are. It’s our way of putting skin in the game - and ensuring our team is fully invested in seeing you through to a spot in medical school.
